Artist Statement
“Every artist dips his brush into his own soul, and paints his own nature into his
pictures.” --Henry Ward Beecher
It is a hot summer day and I am riding in the 1973 Roadrunner sitting next to my
mom with the windows rolled down-- “I am cool”. We have just come from “the
shop” where I spent many a summer day working with my family. This was what
our family was about, our home was not the ranch house we lived in, rather the
dirty old two-bay family shop on a busy street corner served as our “home”. My
parents spent many a long-hard hour, as with most blue-collar workers, producing
their own “art” through custom exhaust. Some are born with a silver spoon but I
was born with a welder in hand.
